Learn to Row

Dates: May 25-26, 2019 or June 22-23, 2019

Rowing is the best overall fitness sport going; fun for families and individuals.   Experienced rowing instructors will introduce you to the fundamentals and help you develop your skills and safety awareness as you crew in a variety of boats.   Participants are treated to a friendly encouraging experience, as they crew with club members in a variety of boats.   By the end, you will feel confident in your ability to come out to row and to take advantage of one of the best overall fitness sports going.

Discover rowing on Lake Couchiching and just how much fun it can be. Learn the basic techniques and develop your rowing skills through a combined land and lake program and practise on the water with learners and experienced rowers as fellow crew members. There is plenty of opportunity to learn and gain basic skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

  • a "Learn to Row" course is required for any person who has never rowed before.
  • location: Boat House (Tudhope Park beside ball diamond)
  • one on-land safety orientation session, plus 4 on-water lessons
  • fee includes all rowing instruction, use of equipment, Club T-shirt and mandatory RowOntario and Rowing Canada fees
  • $200 / per person

Full Season Memberships

Unlimited rowing opportunities during scheduled row times (May to September)

Access to Ergometer rowing machines throughout the off season (October to April)

  • Prerequisite: - Learn-to-Row or previous membership with the Orillia Rowing Club or another recognized rowing club AND are in good standing

  • $435   

    Fee includes the Rowing Canada & RowOntario fees ($45)
    not included are any additional costs for regatta entry fees, equipment transportation costs

  • Pay in full by May 4,2019 & receive a discount of $25.00
  • Volunteer time is needed for the boat house opening on May 4th and closing on October 6th which includes dock installation or take-out, rigging or de-rigging boats. In addtion, every rower is required to work one Bingo session between September 2019 and April 2020.

Touring

See Lake Country from on the water!   We plan a club rowing tour at least once a month on a different lake or local waterway throughout the rowing season.  Bring a picnic lunch and a sense of adventure as you join a rowing crew in our stable “un-tippable” touring boats.   We'll combine the physical challenge of rowing with plenty of time to relax, swim and take in the beauty of the Ontario shoreline.  

Prerequisite: - Learn-to-Row and current membership with the Orillia Rowing Club or another recognized rowing club.

Card Rowing

  • For anyone who has already had an 'Learn-To-Row' course or has previous rowing experience, who wants to row for a limited number of times in a summer or wants to row a few more times before deciding to get a full membership

  • $105 for 5 rows
  • $230 for 12 rows
  • Not included are the Rowing Canada & RowOntario fees ($45), if not already paid. These fees are a one time additional cost per season per person

Gaudaur Brothers Heritage Tour

Event is in conjunction with the Gaudaur family exhibit at the Orillia Museum of Art & History. A regional one day tour hosted by the Orillia Rowing Club. Row the training route of world champion rower Jake Gaudaur on Lake Couchiching.
