Many thanks to our partners for helping to promote physical activity and recreation opportunities in our community.

2010 Youth Rowing sponsorship

John and Laurie

John Mayo has sponsored the club’s summer youth rowing program for several years, directly and indirectly providing the opportunity of over 100 youth ‘to pull as a team’ while learning to row.

The Orillia Rowing Club has had tremendous community support for the 10 years it has been in operation in Orillia at Tudhope Park.

ORC Past President, Laurie Herd is shown presenting a certificate of thanks to John Mayo acknowledging the club’s appreciation of John’s continued support of the Orillia Rowing Club while bringing positive benefits to the community at large.

GM Making dream possible

Thank you to the GM Making Dreams Possible program for supporting ORC coaching programs.

2008 Row-for-Gold camp for kids

One of the club's Diamond sponsors, John Mayo, helped subsidize the Row-for-Gold Summer Day Camp, along with municipal partners Orillia Parks and Recreation and Ramara Recreation, as well as community partner Good for Life (part of the Ontario Heart Health Network).

Mayo has provided private funding to support Orillia Rowing Club campers for the last four years. His donation of $5,000 over this period has contributed to the sponsorship of over 33 children/youth to experince the sport of rowing.

Mayo's continued support has enabled our club to grow our youth programs and form partnerships within the community. The sponsored children/youth would not have been able to attend camp without this sponsorship, due to financial constraints.

Municipal partners: Orillia Parks and Recreation and Ramara Recreation, offer administrative support as well as being the liaison with schools for camper recruitment. Good for Life made available 'Giant Games' used during camp programming, especially for team building, developing social skills and for fun.

All of our campers and trained staff and volunteers enjoyed a quality camp program where they improved or learned rowing, developed team building and leadership skills while experiencing the spectacular natural venue of Lake Couchiching at Tudhope Park.

Breaking down barriers while developing recreational options and healthy living choices strengthens our community as it supports our youth. Thank you to all of our partners, sponsors, campers, club staff members and volunteers.

2007 Row-for-Gold Sponsor

John Mayo sponsors seven youth to attend the club's Row-for-Gold camp program.

John Mayo of BMO Nesbitt Burns (shown on the left) contributed $1,200 to the Orillia Rowing Club for the sponsorship of seven youth to attend the club's Row-for-Gold camp program in 2007, held in partnership with Orillia Parks and Recreation. This sponsorship gave these children, who otherwise might not have been able to attend, the opportunity to learn new skills, work as a team, and enjoy the outdoors while discovering the awesome sport of rowing!
