Thor Motors sponsorship
Thor Motors Orillia Ltd has sponsored a singles racing shell for $2500 at the Orillia Rowing Club and is
naming the rowing shell MIGHTY THOR. This sponsorship assists the Orillia Rowing Club in providing rowing to as many people

2010 Youth Rowing sponsorship
John Mayo has sponsored the club’s summer youth rowing program
for several years, directly and indirectly providing the opportunity of
over 100 youth ‘to pull as a team’ while learning to row.
The Orillia Rowing Club has had tremendous community support for the 10
years it has been in operation in Orillia at Tudhope Park.
ORC Past President, Laurie Herd is shown presenting a certificate of thanks
to John Mayo acknowledging the club’s appreciation of John’s continued
support of the Orillia Rowing Club while bringing positive benefits to
the community at large.

2008 Row-for-Gold camp for kids
One of the club's Diamond sponsors, John Mayo, helped
subsidize the Row-for-Gold Summer Day Camp, along with
municipal partners Orillia Parks and Recreation and Ramara Recreation,
as well as community partner Good for Life (part of the Ontario Heart
Mayo has provided private funding to
support Orillia Rowing Club campers for the last four years. His
donation of $5,000 over this period has contributed to the sponsorship
of over 33 children/youth to experince the sport of rowing.
Mayo's continued support has enabled our club to grow our youth programs and
form partnerships within the community. The sponsored
children/youth would not have been able to attend camp without this
sponsorship, due to financial constraints.
Municipal partners: Orillia Parks and Recreation and Ramara Recreation, offer
administrative support as well as being the liaison with schools for
camper recruitment. Good for Life made available 'Giant Games' used
during camp programming, especially for team building, developing social
skills and for fun.
All of our campers and trained
staff and volunteers enjoyed a quality camp program where they improved
or learned rowing, developed team building and leadership skills while
experiencing the spectacular natural venue of Lake Couchiching at
Breaking down barriers while developing recreational
options and healthy living choices strengthens our community as it
supports our youth. Thank you to all of our partners, sponsors, campers,
club staff members and volunteers.

Grants Committee supports Orillia Rowing Club

2007 Row-for-Gold Sponsor
John Mayo sponsors seven youth to attend the club's Row-for-Gold camp program.
John Mayo of BMO Nesbitt Burns (shown on the left) contributed $1,200
to the Orillia Rowing Club for the sponsorship of seven youth to attend
the club's Row-for-Gold camp program in 2007, held in partnership with
Orillia Parks and Recreation. This sponsorship gave these children, who
otherwise might not have been able to attend, the opportunity to learn
new skills, work as a team, and enjoy the outdoors while discovering the
awesome sport of rowing!
