2024 Volunteering Positions

Youth Rowing Program

  • 5 week rowing program for youth ages 14-18
  • for youth new to rowing
  • Includes instruction, on water coaching, use of equipment, Rowing Canada / Row Ontario mandatory fees, club water bottle
  • New rowers will be taught to row then progress to crew rowing
  • May 14 to May 25   Tue, Wed, Fri (4 - 6 pm) plus Sat 7 - 8:45am
  • May 28 to June 14   Tue, Wed, Fri (4 - 6 pm)
  • 17 sessions in total

Fee: $375 / per person


Learn to Row - Adults

Rowing is the best overall fitness sport going; fun for families and individuals. Experienced rowing instructors will introduce you to the fundamentals and help you develop your skills and safety awareness. Participants are treated to a friendly encouraging experience. By the end, you will feel confident in your ability to come out to row and to take advantage of one of the best overall outdoor fitness sports going.

Discover rowing on Lake Couchiching and just how much fun it can be. Learn the basic techniques and develop your rowing skills through a combined land and lake program and practice on the water with learners and experienced rowers. There is plenty of opportunity to learn and gain basic skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Available class options:

  • Weekend #1 - Sat Jun 8 & Sun Jun 9, or
  • Weekend #2 - Sat Jun 22 & Sun Jun 23
  • Hours: Sat 9 am to 4 pm & Sun 9 am to 12 noon
  • Fee includes all rowing instruction, use of equipment, club water bottle, BBQ lunch on Sat, Rowing Canada / Row Ontario mandatory fees
  • Fee: $255 / per person


Private Learn to Row - upon request

    Fee: $345 / per person


Full Season Recreational Memberships

Unlimited rowing opportunities during scheduled row times May 6th through to October

    Prerequisite: - Learn-to-Row or previous membership with the Orillia Rowing Club or another recognized rowing club AND are in good standing

    $525   Fee includes the Rowing Canada / Row Ontario mandatory fees
    not included are any additional costs for regatta entry fees, equipment transportation costs
    $25 discount if fees paid in full by May 5th

    Early morning weekday rows 5:45 - 7:15 am available twice per week starting late June

    Coaching provided 3 - 4 times per week

Participation as a club volunteer (rower or family) is required or $100 volunteer buyout in lieu. Please see Volunteer Positions document on website for OPEN positions.

Performance Competitive Program

This program caters to athletes that are competitive by nature and are looking to challenge themselves in the sport.

For rowers aged U15 to Masters who have completed the youth rowing program or the learn to row program or have previous rowing experience

Fees include the Rowing Canada / Row Ontario mandatory fees
not included are any additional costs for regatta entry fees, equipment transportation costs

For those who will be racing on May 18th, get your Performance Competitive Uniforms order in. The store closes on April 30th.

ORC Merchandise

C1 Stream

  • introductory level training for those new to Competitive rowing
  • 3 to 5 training sessions per week, inclusive of on water and land training, as well as strength and conditioning
  • Fee: $775 for the on-water season
    $25 discount if fees paid in full by April 13th

    Participation as a club volunteer (rower or family) is required or $195 volunteer buyout in lieu. Please see Volunteer Positions document on website for OPEN positions.

C2 Stream

  • for athletes who aspire to become an elite rower or for those who wish to be a competitive rower year round
  • racing opportunities at regional and provincial regattas, with possible participation at national regattas
  • 6 to 12 training sessions per week depending on goals, inclusive of on water and land training, as well as strength and conditioning
  • Fee: $1,225 for the on-water season
    $25 discount if fees paid in full by April 13th

    Participation as a club volunteer (rower or family) is required or $300 volunteer buyout in lieu. Please see Volunteer Positions document on website for OPEN positions.


Card Rowing

  • Pay-as-you-Row plan

  • For recreational rowing only
  • For anyone who has already had an 'Learn-To-Row' course or has previous rowing experience, who wants to row for a limited number of times in a summer or wants to row a few more times before deciding to get a full membership

  • $185 for 5 rows

    $375 for 12 rows

  • Includes the Rowing Canada / Row Ontario mandatory fees
  • Participation in club volunteer activities is needed


Summer Camps

Full day camp 9 am to 4 pm

4 camp sessions available:

  • week of July 15 to 19
  • week of July 22 to 26
  • week of August 6 to 9
  • week of August 12 to 16

For ages: 11 to 15
Participants must be competent swimmers
For the summer camp we use our stable touring boats.
All registration is done online via the Orillia's Sun Registration site at Orillia.ca


Free! Youth and Adult Try-Out Rowing

A one-time opportunity to get in a rowing shell and try it out before committing to a learn to row course For those new to rowing we use our stable touring boats to keep you on top of the water as you learn. Click here for more information on signing up, what to bring etc.

    You will need to sign the following documents. Minors arriving without their parents/guardian please bring them signed with you in order to be allowed to row.

Please Sign up here for a Try it row event to secure your spot. Walk-ins are accepted, but sign ups have priority.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your booked time to register and get oriented.


Touring

See Lake Country from on the water!   We plan a club rowing tour at least once a month on a different lake or local waterway throughout the rowing season.  Bring a picnic lunch and a sense of adventure as you join a rowing crew in our stable “un-tippable” touring boats.   We'll combine the physical challenge of rowing with plenty of time to relax, swim and take in the beauty of the Ontario shoreline.  

Prerequisite: - Learn-to-Row and current membership with the Orillia Rowing Club or another recognized rowing club.
